OBITUARY Dr. Gerald Robert Keilson October 22, 1927 – October 14, 2018 In loving memory of Gerald Robert Keilson, age 90, and a resident of Irving, Texas, who passed away eight days before his 91st birthday. He was born October 22, 1927, in Cleveland, Ohio, to Charles and Estelle Keilson. He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Suzanne Keilson; sons, Mark Keilson and David Keilson; daughter-in-law, Barbara Keilson; granddaughter, Kristina Keilson; grandsons, Nicolas and Cooper Keilson; as well as numerous cousins.
Gerald’s love for his family and his passion to serve others created his legacy. A Graduate from Trinity University and UT Medical School, Gerald had many loves. His true desire to help people began at an early age and carried forward throughout his life.
In 1954, he met the love of his life, Suzanne Sands, whom he wed in 1955. He would soon pack his bags and head to the Philippine Islands to pledge his services as a physician in the U.S. Air Force. After a short couple of years, he headed back to settle down in Irving, Texas, to pursue his dream of practicing medicine.
His infectious smile and calmness allowed his medical practice to grow expeditiously. Respected and loved by many of his colleagues and patients over his career span of 50 years, they all benefited from his immense knowledge and compassionate care. Bringing thousands of newborns into the world, many of them continued to stay in contact over the years.
Gerald served as the Chairman of the Board at Irving Community Hospital. Gerald, known as Jerry to many, was an avid tennis player, loved to travel, and enjoyed spending quality time with his family and close friends. He was a true Dallas Cowboy fan through good years and bad.
Gerald only saw the good in people. He inspired everyone around him with his gentle spirit, kindness, and will be missed forever. We will be celebrating the life of Gerald Keilson with a service Sunday, October 21, at 12:00 p.m., Sparkman Hillcrest Funeral Home, Dallas, Texas, 7405 West Northwest Highway, Dallas, TX 75225.
