Mass of Christian Burial for Dr. Jerry A. Patriarca, will be 11:00 AM, Thursday, November 8, 2018 at St. Gabriel Catholic Church, 9925 Johnnycake Ridge Road, Concord Township, Ohio. Family and friends may call 2:00 PM – 4:00 PM and 5:00 PM – 8:00 PM on Wednesday, November 7th at Spear Mulqueeny Funeral Home, 667 Mentor Avenue, Painesville, Ohio 44077. Dr. Patriarca was born November 23, 1936 in Ashtabula.
He went to be with his Lord, surrounded by his family, November 3, 2018, at his home in Concord Township. He was a graduate of Ashtabula High School in 1954; he attended Ohio University and received his Bachelor of Science Degree in Chemistry in 1958. He was awarded his Doctor of Dental Science Degree from Case Western Reserve School of Dentistry in 1965.
Jerry taught clinical dentistry at Case Western Reserve for many years and founded The Painesville Dental Group in 1969 with his partner, Dr. Edward White. He was affectionately known as Dr. Pat by his patients and staff throughout his nearly 40 years of practice. He considered it his greatest honor to serve the patients of The Painesville Dental Group, and to have been surrounded by such a fine staff of dedicated workers.
He was also a member of the American and Ohio Dental Association, Past President of Northeastern Ohio Dental Association and the Painesville Exchange Club. Every pleasure in Jerry’s life involved his family. He was an avid hunter and fisherman, enjoyed the trips to Canada with the boys for over 40 years; he loved his casinos, and the cottages at the lake, loved making homemade wine with his children and grandchildren.
Jerry will be lovingly remembered by his children, Michael (Laurie) Patriarca of Painesville Twp. , Dr. Jerry V. (Connie) Patriarca of Concord Twp. , Christopher (Jennifer) Patriarca of Concord Twp.
, Nikki (David) Derylak of Mentor and Maria (Jim) Valvoda of Painesville. He will always be remembered as “Papa” and always pledged “Papa Protection” to his grandchildren: Dan (Hannah), John (Brianna), Adam, Courtney (Tomas), Robbie (Jennifer), Vincenzo, Antonio, Davide, Jack, Brenna, Jenn (Tommy), Daniel (Kally), Sofia, Olivia, and Nico; and great-grandchildren, Arlo, Isla, Mila Rose, Tianna, and Madeline; brothers-in-law, Anthony (Marie) Aveni of Mentor, Mario (Connie) Ciano of Wickliffe, and Frank (Joan) Buda of Willoughby; sister-in-law Georgia Patriarca and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his loving wife Theresa (Aveni) Patriarca, parents, Egilio and Louisa (Rocco) Patriarca; Mother and Father-in-law Vincent and Annette Aveni, brothers Joseph and Carmen, sister Elizabeth, sisters-in-law Lucille, Annette and Barbara and niece Ann.
In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be sent in Jerry’s memory to Hospice of the Western Reserve, 17876 St. Clair Avenue, Cleveland, Ohio 44110.
