OBITUARY Dr. Richard D. Hamer May 6, 1938 – September 13, 2018 Dr. Hamer, 80, passed away Thursday, September 13, 2018 at the W. G. (Bill) Hefner VA Medical Center in Salisbury, NC. Born May 6, 1938 in Mecklenburg County, NC, Dr. Hamer was a graduate of Wheaton College in Wheaton, Illinois and then served in the United States Navy. He practiced medicine as a dermatologist in Charlotte until his retirement.

Dr. Hamer was preceded in death by his parents, Dr. William Alexander Hamer and Etheline Bertha Mitchell Hamer; and his brothers, William A. Hamer, Jr. and Stephen Mitchell Hamer. A service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, September 19th by the Hamer family mausoleum at Forest Lawn West Cemetery, 4601 Freedom Drive.
