Dr. Robert J. Murray’s Obituary MURRAY Dr. Robert J. (Bob), age 86 of Deer Park and Kenwood, passed away Tuesday Nov 13, 2018. Beloved husband of Mary Elizabeth Murray (nee Thole). Devoted father of, Susan Murray, Bob Murray (Michele, Dec.

), Patrick Murray (Marie), Betsy Bissmeyer (Paul). Eight grandchildren, Ryan, Scott, Jesslyn, Tiffany (Alex May), Ben, Mary Jo, Daniel and PJ and two great grandchildren Evelyn and Egan May. Brother of Juliana (Julie) Larsen (Bud) and Jack Murray (Dec.

) (Hermine, Dec. ) Originally from Cleveland Ohio, son of Juliana T and John F Murray, Bob came to Cincinnati to attend Xavier University, and went on to obtain his PhD in Classics at Ohio State. In Cincinnati he met his vivacious and beloved wife Mary.

Mary and Bob married after Bob’s two-year stint overseas in the army. This month marks their 62nd wedding anniversary. Dr. Murray became a professor at Xavier University and spent his entire career in the Honors Bachelor of Arts program in the Classics Department.

He was a quiet, deep thinking man, yet with a quick wit, rock-solid integrity and a good deal of charm. He was highly respected by his students and his colleagues. Bob loved the outdoors (with the clear exception of outdoor dining), hiking and birding with his family and finding wildflower patches to share with Mary.

He read constantly and was a wizard at crossword puzzles. He was happiest in his later years spending time with Mary and his family, and all who knew him will miss him greatly. Visitation will be Friday November 16th 6:00 – 8:00 pm at Staley Funeral Home 7140 Plainfield Rd.

Deer Park, OH. Mass of Christian Burial will be Saturday at 10:00 am at St. John Catholic Church 7121 Plainfield Rd Deer Park, OH. In lieu of flowers, donations to St. Vincent de Paul (St. John the Evangelist Chapter) will be welcome.
