OBITUARY Dr. William Warr May 24, 1934 – November 22, 2018 Dr. William Warr, age 84, of Phenix City, Alabama passed away on Thursday November 22, 2018. Dr. William was born May 24, 1934 in Abbeville, Alabama to the late Mary Louise McCloud Warr and Buford S Warr. He graduated from Central High School in 1952, Auburn University in 1955, UAB Birmingham in 1959, Residency at The Medical Center 1961-62, and started his practice in 1962.
He was a member of AAFP, Southern medical Assoc. of AL, Sons of the American Revolution (Coweta Chapter), Travel Protection Association. , Tennessee Walking Horses-Breeders and Exhibitors Association.
, Amen Choir of P.C. and the Auburn Alumni Association. He loved his God, family, Horses, Auburn Tigers, flying, golf, traveling, his community, riding motor cycles, but his Dedication was always to his patients and the love of being a Physician. At age of 12 he was focused just on being a Doctor of General Practice and Surgery.
He practiced 38 years in Phenix City, but upon retiring was lost so he took on other Physician duties with Russell County Correction Inst. Brodwyn and Associates and still worked two days a week for Russell County. He always said “I want to work until I die”.
Other than his parents, Dr. William was preceded in death by; daughter Crissy Warr Vaughan; and sister, Doris Warr Cole. He is survived by his wife, Gloria Warrr; son-in-law, Duke Vaughan; daughters, Rhonda Major (Johnny); Julie Bowman; and Kathy Daniel(Joe); sons, W.S. Spud Warr (Jeanette); step son, Johnny Weaver (Camanda); nephew Will Cole and Family and step cousin Jerry Tapley. A visitation for Dr. Warr will be held Sunday, November 25, 2018 at 1:30 PM at 1st Baptist Church, Phenix City, AL.
A Celebration of Dr. Warr’s Life will follow at 2:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Dr. William Warr’s memory may be made to First Baptist Church of Phenix City, 2608 Sumerville Rd, Phenix City, Alabama 36867 US, firstbaptistphenixcity.org; and The Salvation Army, Columbus, Georgia US, salvationarmygeorgia.org/columbus.
