Obituary of Duane Hurd Duane E. Hurd died on Saturday, February 2, 2019 at Angels Grace Hospice, Oconomowoc, at the age of 87. He was born on August 2, 1931, in Marinette, Wisconsin, the son of Walter and Bessie (nee Kaempf). He was a 1949 graduate of Marinette High School.

Duane served in the United States Navy from January, 1950 to November 10, 1953. Following his discharge from the Navy, he moved to Waukesha where he worked at National Advertising, Industrial Clutch, Waukesha Foundry, and then for Wisconsin Electric Power Co. for 37 years, retiring on September 1, 1993 as Line Foreman (crew leader). He enjoyed many activities with his family.

He loved the outdoors, enjoyed hunting, fishing and loved to travel anywhere in and outside of the United States. Duane loved boating on any lake he could find. He held a private Pilot’s license and flew as often as possible.

Duane’s favorite past time was riding his Harley and being a member of many Harley groups including the St. Mark’s Roaring Lions Motorcycle Group in Waukesha. Duane married Grace E. Marquardt on April 30, 1955 in Mukwonago. He is deeply missed by his wife; his daughter Lana A. (Rod) Kuenzi, DVM of the Town of Waukesha; his grandson Anthony J. Kuenzi of Town of Waukesha; granddaughter Mary Rose Kuenzi, Waukesha; his nieces, Beverly Quist, Denise Drum, and Linda Nivinski; nephews, Jerimiah Drum, Kenneth Drum, Mark Peterson, and Keith Peterson.

He is also survived by many friends all over the United States, Canada and other countries. Duane was preceded in death by his parents, Walter and Bessie Hurd, sisters Helen (Dallas) Lockhart, Roberta (Jerimiah) Drum, and Mary Agnes (Earl) Quist; sister-in-law Florence (Floyd) Peterson and brother-in-law Donald H. Marquardt. The visitation for Duane will be held on Saturday February 9, 2019 from 3:00 p.m. until the start of services at 4:00p.m. at St. Mark’s Lutheran Church 424 Hyde Park Ave, Waukesha, WI 53188.

The Rev. D. Andrew Fetters will be officiating. In lieu of flowers memorials are appreciated to St. Marks’s Lutheran Chuch.
