Obituary for E. Jean Peterson E. Jean Peterson, age 93 of DeMotte, passed away at Oak Grove Christian Retirement Village, Tuesday, October 9, 2018 with family by her side. She was born December 22, 1924 in DeMotte, IN the daughter of Fred and Bess (Sekema) Hoffman, both deceased. Jean graduated from DeMotte High School, class of 1942.

She married Robert Peterson on October 16, 1942 in Roselawn, IN. He preceded her in death in 1994. During WWII, Jean worked in the Gary Steel Mill.

She later worked at DeFries Egg Farm, DeKock’s Supermarket, and retired from the U.S. Postal Service after 27 years. Jean was a member of American Reformed Church of DeMotte. In high school she was a cheerleader all 4 years.

Jean was active in the Woman’s Guild, a loving mother and hardworking farmers wife. She enjoyed traveling and being with her family. Jean is survived by her children: Mike (Ruth J.) Peterson of Wheatfield, IN; Gloria (Phil) Moolenaar of DeMotte, IN; Sue (Harvey) Musch of Pipestone, MN; Julie (James) Hoffman of Wheatfield, IN; Bobbie (Andy) Hixson of DeMotte, IN; Nancy (Erwin) Smith of Goshen, IN; 16 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews.

Jean was preceded in death by her parents, husband, 2 sisters, 1 great-grandchild, and 1 son-in-law. Friends may call at the Jackson Funeral Service of DeMotte, IN on Friday, October 12, 2018 from 2:00 to 8:00 PM. Funeral Services will be held at American Reformed Church on Saturday, October 13, 2018 at 10:30 AM with Pastor Troy Nanninga officiating.
