Obituary for Earl Ffolkes 75 years of age and resident of Brooklyn, New York, Earl Ffolkes passed away peacefully on Monday morning January 7, 2019. He was a spirited man who was beloved by many. Born in Gordon Town St. Andrew, Jamaica on October 5, 1943 to the late Alice (Dotty) Schroeter Davis and Roy Ffolkes, he was cherished by his parents as an only child.
Earl left a marvelous legacy of three children – Marie A. Ffolkes-Gierszewski, Janice Davis and Pearnell Ffolkes; six grandchildren – Colton Hunter Gierszewski, Savannah Parkes, Carlton Parkes Jr., Wenthwert Ffolkes, Dantay Ffolkes, and Ria Ffolkes, a host of cousins, aunts, uncles, and dear friends. Earl spent most of his early days in Penfield Falls, Jamaica and completed his education in the Gordon Town School System. He later trained as a process operating engineer and worked for the Ministry of Public Works in Gordon Town, Jamaica.
A while, later he left home to pursue a career with the company Alumina Partners of Jamaica (ALPART) at its bauxite mining and alumina processing plant in St. Elizabeth, Jamaica. Earl emigrated to the United States on June 26, 1974 and settled in Brooklyn, New York. He continued his studies earning certifications as an HVAC engineer as well as Director in High Rise Fire Safety from the Fire Science Institute of New York.
He retired from Rockefeller Group at Rockefeller Center on Avenue of the Americas in Manhattan where he was promoted to roles with ever increasing responsibilities after many dedicated years of service. If there were a few words to define Earl’s life, it would be ‘kind and generous soul. ’ He will be remembered for his heavy bass voice, tall stature and handsome features.
Earl leaves to mourn his beloved daughters, son, grandchildren, many cousins, extended family, very dear friends and associates. We will miss him dearly. May the Grace and Peace of our LORD, JESUS CHRIST be with you and may our Merciful GOD accept your soul into HIS HANDS.
