OBITUARY Earl Jon Van Volkenburg January 23, 1949 – October 15, 2018 Earl Jon Van Volkenburg of Lake Stevens, WA has returned peacefully to his eternal home with his lord and savior. He passed away on October 15th, 2018 after suffering from heart failure and complications of diabetes. Earl was born to Clarence and Joan Van Volkenburg of Snohomish,WA on January 23rd, 1949 at Snohomish General Hospital.

Earl was preceded in death by his first wife, Marilyn, their youngest son Jeremy, and his parents Clarence and Joan. He is survived by his wife Brenda, his sons Shawn (Audra), Matt (Tina), daughters Jennifer, Burgundy, and Alyssa. His beloved Grandchildren Tony (Brandi), Devin, Alex, Hayley, Emily, Anthany, Aubrey, and Hunter.

His cherished great grandchildren Gauge, Leighton, and Ember. He is survived by his brother Nevada (Shirley), and his sister Diane Mulder (Donnie). He will be also be loved and missed by his numerous extended family members and friends.

Earl grew up in Snohomish and graduated from Snohomish High School in 1968. He entered the U.S. Army and served his country from 1971-1973. He married his high-school sweetheart Marilyn Pellham in 1973 and soon after settled in Lake Stevens, WA where they lived the rest of their days together.

He coached football, baseball, and soccer for both of his sons. He worked as a truss salesman until he retired in 2014. He loved God, his country, and family.

He married his grade-school sweetheart, Brenda Alexander in 2012 and enjoyed traveling the country with her and spending quality time at home with family and friends for the rest of his days. He loved to fish, camp, and enjoy all that nature had to offer. He was also an active member of The American Legion Post 181 of Lake Stevens for the last eleven years.

He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him. Rest in Peace my beloved “Gentle Giant”.
