Deacon Earl Martin, made his earthly transition Friday, April 26, 2019. Born Nov. 22, 1950 to Rosie Martin and Mack Martin Jr., he was 68 years of age.
He began working at Allied Paper Company in 1968 at the age of 18 and continued to work there until retirement in 2018. He was well-respected on the job and in the community. Earl enjoyed taking care of his cows, gardening and all outdoor activities.
A dedicated family man, he made each family member feel special. He was a dear and loving son, and devoted caretaker of his mother. Earl was a member of Fervent Life Worship Center, where he served as a deacon and worked faithfully.
Preceding him in death, was his father, Mack Martin Jr.; brother, Randy Martin; and sister, Vivian Jackson. Left to cherish his memories are his loving wife of 47 years, Gloria Martin; mother, Rosie Martin, both of Jackson; five children, Ryan (Shannon) Martin of Chelsea, Malissia (Jim) Perine of Jackson, Tirrell Martin of Atlanta, Ga. , Alaea (Derrick) Ansley of Knoxville, Tenn.
, and Rhea Martin of Adamsville; eight grandchildren, Jalyn Perine, Keaton Perine, Kendall Perine, Camdyn Martin, Ryan Martin, Bailey Martin, Selena Ansley and Caleb Martin; two brothers, Larry (Dorissa) Martin of Killeen, Texas, and Carl Martin of Jackson; six sisters, Yvonne (Elijah) Bennett of Chicago, Ill. , Janice (Lawrence) Nelson of Little Rock, Ark. , Kathy (Alonzo) Terry of Fairburn, Ga.
, and Christine (Ronnie) Wilson of Lucedale, Miss. ; family friend, Darnella Ridgeway; and a host of in-laws, aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and friends. Visitation will be Thursday, May 2, from 4 until 7 p.m., at Jackson Memorial Funeral Home, 203 East Ross St., Jackson.
Homegoing celebration will be Friday, May 3, with viewing from 10 until the 11 a.m. service, at Fervent Live Worship Center, 529 Choctaw Bluff Road, Jackson, with Bishop Jim Perine, pastor, as officiating minister. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. Final life celebration has been entrusted to Jackson Memorial Funeral Home, 203 East Ross St., Jackson, AL.
