Obituary for Edgar A. Soyke Edgar A. Soyke, 92, of Irwin, died Friday, April 13, 2018. He was born April 6, 1926, in Greenwood, a son of the late Edgar and Helen (Margaret) Soyke, and was also preceded in death by his wife, P. Jean (Parks) Soyke; and his siblings, William Soyke, Helen Garthwaite, Thomas Soyke, and Charles Soyke. Ed was a Navy veteran who served during World War II.

He was a retired supervisor after 34 years of service for AT and T, and had many years of service with Western Electric. He was a member of First Presbyterian Church, Irwin, Shidle Lodge No. 601, Free and Accepted Masons, Irwin, Ancient Accepted Scottish Rite, Valley of Syria Temple, Pittsburgh, and the Bromas Golf League.

A longtime supporter of the Shrine Gun Club, recognized by the Pa. State Game Commission for 55 years of hunter-trapper education instruction, and lifetime NRA member, he was a mentor to hunters, golfers, and Masons. He lived his life to never bring embarrassment or shame to his mother.

When his wife, Jean, failed, he gave up everything to take care of her. He has been everything to his family he could ever be. Ed is survived by his children, Rebecca A. Strickland, of New Jersey, Jennifer M. Soyke, M.D. (Jeffery Willensky), of Oregon, William E. (Sandy) Soyke, of Hanover, Kathleen K. (Donald) Falconer, of Oregon, Cynthia L. Eichelberger, of California, and Thomas C. Soyke, of Irwin; seven grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; a sister, Rita Warrick, of Elizabethtown; and nieces and nephews.

Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday, April 20, 2018, at the WILLIAM SNYDER FUNERAL HOME INC. , 521 Main St., Irwin. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday in First Presbyterian Church, Irwin.

Those attending, please go directly to the church. Masonic funeral services will be held at 8 p.m. Friday in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, for those wishing, please make donations to Shriners Hospital for Children-Erie, Attn: Richard E. Liebel Jr., 1645 W. Eighth St., Erie, PA 16505.
