Mrs. Edith “Jane” (Shumaker, Wuertley, Johnson) Ayala, of Monrovia, Indiana, born on April 17th, 1964 in Okinawa, Japan, to the late Patty Ann (Spoon) Shumaker and the late Paul Shumaker, passed away at age 54 on March 7th, 2019 in Sebastian, Florida; following a brief but truly trying illness. Jane began her career in Early Childhood Education; most notably working at E.L.F Children’s Center of Wichita, KS. She was also heavily involved in Wichita’s AmeriCorps program.

She later transitioned into the Aerospace industry; serving at Cessna and Piper Aircraft. Jane is survived by her loving husband, Henry Robert Ayala; her daughter and son-in-law, Jessica (Wuertley) Miller and Joshua Miller; her granddaughter, Alexis Miller; stepsons, Josh Macy, and Jacob Ayala; three siblings; and numerous nephews and nieces. Jane passed away at Sebastian River Medical Center surrounded by her family and close friend.

Jane will be cremated per her wishes and her ashes dispersed at predetermined locations. A celebration of her life will take place at a later date in South Florida. Her family would like to thank the staff and providers of Sebastian River Medical Center for the wonderful care Jane received during her final days.
