STEVENSON, Edward Charles January 11, 1958 – July 7, 2018 Edward (“Ed”) Stevenson, aged 60, died peacefully at home surrounded by family and loved ones after battling a glioblastoma for 9 months. He was born in Reading, PA the middle son of five boys to Dale and Winona Stevenson (both pre-deceased). Ed attended high school at Blue Mountain Academy in Hamburg, PA, graduating in 1976.

He then attended Columbia Union College (Takoma Park, MD) where he earned a Bachelor’s degree in Communications… Read More » and Broadcasting. Following that, he went on to earn a Bachelor of Science in Perfusion Technology at the University of Texas and the Texas Heart Institute. After practicing in Houston and Philadelphia, he relocated to Winter Springs, FL where he spent the last 22 years of his career with Perfusion Associates of Central Florida.

His hard working, easy going nature made him well respected, highly valued and admired by his colleagues in the cardio-thoracic units at both Florida Hospital and Orlando Regional Medical Center. On January 1, 2018 he was awarded the status of Certified Clinical Perfusionist (CCP) Emeritus. Ed and Sheri met while playing softball during the summer of 1983 in Reading, PA where he was working in a summer intern role as a surgical technician and she was studying to be a nurse anesthetist.

They married on May 20th, 1988 in Toledo, Ohio. His fun-loving, non-judgmental and patient personality made him a devoted friend to all who loved him and an instant friend to new acquaintances. Ed was thankful for the many medical professionals who provided such a high standard of care and compassion after his diagnosis.

He was especially grateful for the outpouring of love from his many friends, loved ones and co-workers during his illness. He enjoyed being active outdoors and watching a variety of sporting activities. Among his favorites were hiking and going to the beach, watching Philadelphia Flyers hockey games, FSU football games, and supporting his children throughout their many years of competitive swimming and water polo events.

Ed was the beloved husband of Sheri for 30 years and loving father to Philip (26) and Jana (22). He is survived by brothers Daniel, Corwin (Kristine), Alan (Jane), and Eldon (Marilene), brothers-in-law Terry (Vicki) and Tim (Katreice), Clyde (Kate), sister-in-law Lisa (Brandon), father and mother-in-law Paul and Delores Phillips, and numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral mass will be held at St Stephen Catholic Community, 575 Tuskawilla Rd, Winter Springs on Saturday, July 21st at 10am.

Inurnment at Glen Haven Memorial Park, 2300 Temple Drive, Winter Park will be held at a later date. Memorial donations in memory of Ed can be made to St Stephen Catholic Community Outreach Program or Associates Program.
