Mr. Edward “Ed”‘s Obituary Mr. Edward (Ed) Williams, son of the late Mr. Willie Williams, Sr. and Mrs. Abbie Council Williams, was born on June 3rd, 1939 in Berkeley County, South Carolina. He entered into eternal rest on Monday , April 29, 2019 in Bayonne, New Jersey. Ed grew up in Orangeburg County and attended the public schools there.

In the 1950’s, he moved to Greensboro, North Carolina where he lived for a period of time before moving on to New York. He lived and worked in New York for many years and retired from New York Transit Authority before returning to South Carolina While living in New York, Ed joined Greater Tabernacle Baptist Church where he gave loyal and faithful service for over 25 years under the pastor, The Reverend James Barnwell. He also served as President of the Usher Board.

Upon his return to South Carolina, he became a faithful and active member of Springfield Missionary Baptist Church where he served as an usher under The Reverend James E. Council. Later, he moved his membership to Greater Unity AME Church, and served under Pastor Julius Steed as President of the Usher Board, Member of the Trustee Board, the Food Bank Committee Member, and the Sixty-Plus Club. He was also a life member of the NAACP.

In addition to his parents, Ed was preceded to the grave by two brothers: James S. Williams and Willie (Bozo) Williams; a sister, Mrs. Carrie Lee Witherspoon; and two grandsons: Rashan and Michael, II. He leaves to cherish his love and legacy: Sons, Michael Williams, Kevin Williams, Jason Cummings, and Baron Cummings, all of New York; one brother, Buster (Janie) Williams, of New York; one sister, Mrs. Polly (Samuel) Greene of Eutawville, SC; adopted sisters: Mrs. Dorothy (Robert) Hall, and Mrs. Ruth Ann ( Claude) Sivels, both of New Jersey; an adopted brother, David (Evette) Williams of Santee, SC; one sister-in-law, Mrs. Annie Lee Williams of Holly Hill, SC; a special niece, Ms. Pattie Williams of Holly Hill, SC; grandchildren: Sebastion, Nilah, Deonte, Jason, Jalen, Corey, TanaQua, and K’Ashawnn ; great granddaughter: Kashious; godson: Jeremy Sellers; a special loving and caring, forever friend: Ms. Dorothy Gadson; devoted caretakers: Mary Shingler and Shirley Lambright; and a host of nieces, nephews, outer relatives and many friends. Friends may call at the residence, 333 Joy Drive, Santee and at the funeral home.
