Pittsfield Edward John Van Beers, 84, passed away unexpectedly on January 11, 2019. Edward was born on March 5, 1934 in Paterson, NJ and was a son of the late Charles Vincent Sepione and Kathryn Viedas. Edward was an avid coin and stamp collector.

He enjoyed tending his vegetable gardens, walking his land, watching a Yankee’s game, a good game of horseshoes, and reading anything non-fiction. He owned Pittsfield Plumbing & Electric for years, providing area homeowners with supplies and well-appreciated guidance. He was noted for his quotes, “If you can’t fix a problem, change the problem and fix that,” and “There are good days and there are bad days; this is one of them”. He is survived by his partner of 35 years, Esther Whittaker; children, Edward (Lauren) Van Beers II, Kathe (Jim Goldie) Rutler, Sharon (Scott) Wilson and John Mitchell; 7 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren; brothers, Walter (Connie) Van Beers and Bill Van Beers.

Family and friends are invited to calling hours on Thursday, January 17, 2019 at the Johnston Funeral Home, 60 Broad Street, Morris from 5PM- 7PM. A graveside service will take place in the spring. Donations in memory of Edward may be made to the Pittsfield Fire Department, 167 State Highway 80, New Berlin, New York 13411.
