Edward’s Obituary Edward L. Ericson, age 91, of Ashland, passed away, Wednesday, December 26, 2018 at his home. He was born on April 20, 1927 in Charlotte, NC to Edward E. Ericson and Johanna Ericson Collins (Miko). Ed served as a radio operator in the Army Air Corps on B-29’s in the Pacific.

He graduated with a Bachelor of Science from Eastern Michigan University and went on to receive two Masters, one in Recreation and later, Public Administration. Ed had a varied career that ranged from presidential civilian appointment by President Eisenhower for developing recreational facilities in Aviano, Italy and Toule, France for the Air Force bases; Executive Director of the National Ski Patrol, Denver, CO; city manager in Colorado, Minnesota and Florida; and retired to Florida after serving as Executive Director in Lincoln, Lyon Murray, Pipestone County Public Health in Marshall, MN. Ed married Margaret “Magge” Tressel in 1978 in Wheatridge, CO.

In 2011, Ed and Magge moved to Ashland, WI where they made their home. Ed was a volunteer for many organizations in Colorado, Minnesota, Florida and Wisconsin. He was a member of Saron Lutheran Church and the American Legion.

He is survived by his wife, Margaret; sons, David and Eric (Lisa); daughter, Robin (Dan) Potter; brothers, Ronald (Helen) and Norman; sister, Jeannette (Ron) Kagan; three granddaughters and two great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; and a son, Rink Blake. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 pm, Saturday, January 5, 2019 at Saron Lutheran Church in Ashland with Pastor Paul Simmons officiating.

Visitation will begin one hour prior to the service at the church on Saturday. A private family inurnment will be held at the Northern WI Veterans Cemetery in Spooner at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Saron Lutheran Youth Foundation, Regional Hospice, or the Chequamegon Humane Association.
