Obituary for Edward R. Lopez Edward R. Lopez went to be with the Lord on October 17, 2018, at the age of 78. He was born on February 5, 1940 in San Antonio, TX. He is preceded in death by his parents Mariano Francisco and Katharina Lopez, and sons-in-law Rudy Garza and Carlos B. Hoyos.
Edward is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Dolores G. Lopez; 3 daughters, Cindy Hoyos, Barbara L. Guajardo (Pete) and Theresa L. Rodriguez (Clemente); siblings, Virginia Valdez and Nicholas F. Lopez (Rachel); 8 grandchildren, Margaret D. Espinoza, Pete Guajardo IV (Leslie), Yvette Castillo, Dominic Gutierrez (Michael), Krystal De la Cruz (Jose), Edward Guajardo, Angela Espinoza and Katherine Ozuna (Michael); 17 great-grandchildren, Jacquelynn, Joselynn, Carla, Damien, Olivia, Alyssa, Joanne, Oliver, Mila Rose, Christopher, Eboni, Damian, Bellamor, Lelani, Miguel, Mikela and Leena; nieces and nephew, Nanette Erickson (Dean), Gabriel Lopez (Kimberly) and Marissa Williams (Aaron) and extended family members and friends. Edward toured Texas as a historical marker maker for 56 years. He also served as the Past S.A.L. Commander of Post 592.
Throughout his life, he was on CB radio known as the “little blue trucker”, he dressed up as Santa Claus for many organizations and was a part of several Billiard leagues. He enjoyed making BBQ, fishing, hunting, turkey shoots and was also known as “Turkeyman” for the turkey legs he would make. Most of all, Edward loved being with his family.
He will be missed by all who knew and loved him. Visitation will be Tuesday, October 23, 2018 from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m. with a Rosary to be recited at 7:00 p.m. at Mission Park Funeral Chapels South. Funeral procession will depart the funeral home at 12:30 p.m. for a Funeral Mass at 1:00 p.m. at Holy Family Catholic Church on Wednesday, October 24, 2018.
