Edward M. “Ed” Richner, 97, of Williamsport, passed away April 30, 2019 at the Williamsport Home. Edward was preceded in death by his loving wife of 54 years, Phyllis Jean (Maneval) Richner, on August 23, 1995. Born September 29, 1921 in Williamsport, he was a son of the late George A. and Kathryn R. (Harrison) Richner.

Ed was a 1939 graduate of Williamsport High School. He served his country in the US Army during WWII as a Master Sargent and worked as vice president at the Former Confair Bottling Company now Pepsi for 50 years until his retirement in 1991. Edward was a member of the former Church of the Savior Lutheran where he served as the treasurer for 10 years and was a member of the church council.

He is currently a member of St. Mark Lutheran Church. Ed was also a member of the Korean War Veterans of Lycoming County, the John F. Laedlein Lodge 707, the Scottish Rite, the former Keenagers where he served as the treasurer and on the financial committee, and was a life member of the LeRoy O. Buck V.F.W. Post #7863. Surviving are his children; Mark E. Richner (Mary Lee) of Cranberry Township, PA and Beth C. Porter (Landon) of Bandon, OR, grandchildren; Amy Koski (Justin) of Long Lake, MN, Rich Porter (Lori) of Sparks, NV, and Matthew Richner of Economy Borough, PA, and four great-grandchildren.

In addition to his wife he was preceded in death by a brother; George A. Richner Jr. A funeral service to honor the life of Ed will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, May 4 at Knight-Confer Funeral Home, 1914 Memorial Ave, Williamsport with the Rev Gwen N. Bernstine officiating. Burial will follow in Wildwood Cemetery with full military honors. A viewing will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. on Friday, May 3 at Knight-Confer Funeral Home.
