Edward Spencer, of Cary, passed away Monday, November 19, 2018 at the age of 95. He was born October 13, 1923 in Chicago, the son of the late Anton and Sophie Zygadlo. Edward was known for his work ethic and positive attitude.

Some of his many accomplishments included serving in the US Army from 1946-1947, YMCA Indian Guides Nation Chief, Mayor of Oakwood Hills, served four missions for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, and he was founder of Spencer Tool and Die. Edward was a private pilot. He restored Harley’s, enjoyed skiing, mechanical projects including building a helicopter and even built his own home.

Edward is survived by his children, Kandy (John) Workman, Scott (Lois Jean) Spencer and Randy (Lucy) Spencer; his 14 grandchildren; and his 38 great-grandchildren and counting. He was preceded in death by his wife, Jean; brother, Fred Spencer; and sister, Joann Kappes. Visitation will be held Friday, November 30, from 5-8 p.m. at Davenport Family Funeral Home and Crematory, 419 E Terra Cotta Ave (Rt.

176) Crystal Lake. The funeral service will be held the following day, Saturday, December 1, at 11 a.m. at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, 480 N Walkup Ave, Crystal Lake. Burial will follow at Windridge Memorial Park, Cary.
