Obituary for Edward Van Der Noord Edward Van Der Noord, age 91, of DeMotte, passed away on Wednesday, February 7, 2018 in Valparaiso, IN. He was born May 22, 1926 in Lansing, IL to Egbert and Jentje (Bakker) Van Der Noord, both deceased. On February 8, 1947 Edward married the love of his life, Phyllis (Heckman) in Hammond, IN.

Edward was self employed as a carpenter from 1950-1997 and owned and operated Edward Van der Noord Homebuilders. Edward is a veteran of the U.S. Army and proudly served during the WWII era. He served with the 187th Para Glider Infantry in Japan.

Edward enjoyed working with his hands, loved woodworking, crafts & puzzles, and camping. Edward is survived his wife Phyllis Van Der Noord of DeMotte, IN; children: Dianne (Durk) Reinsma of DeMotte, IN; Phyllis (Fred) Evert of DeMotte, IN; Edward (Elaine) Van Der Noord of Lansing, IL; Patricia (Kenneth) Bultema of Lansing, IL; 12 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great grandchild; siblings: Elaine Rietveld of DeMotte, IN and Grace Horgeshiemer of Lansing, IL. Edward was preceded in death by his parents, Egbert and Jentje; siblings: Jennie Poplatz, Peter Van Der Noord, Harry Van Der Noord, John Van Der Noord, and Henry Van Der Noord.

Friends may call at Jackson Funeral Service of DeMotte, IN from 2:00 to 7:00 PM on Sunday, February 11, 2018. A funeral service will be held at the mortuary on Monday, February 12, 2018 at 10:30 AM with Pastor Jim Busscher officiating. Interment will be at Holland Cemetery with military rights.
