Saginaw, Michigan Beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and great-great-grandfather passed away on Sunday, April 28, 2019 at his home. Age 87 years. The son of the late Merrill and Fern (Luplow) Green, Ed was born on July 21, 1931 in Zilwaukee, Michigan.
He married Joan Balewicz on August 14, 1954. She survives him. Ed proudly served in the United States Air Force as a Radar Radio Operator during the Korean War.
He and his brother, Jim, formed Green Brothers Carpet in 1967 and retired in 1990. Following his retirement, he was a school bus driver for Carrollton Public Schools for 21 years. Ed enjoyed playing golf, traveling in their motor home with yearly family camping trips.
Ed will be remembered for his fun loving spirit and being a very family oriented man and always having a smile on his face. He was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church and V.F.W. Post #1859. Surviving besides his wife Joan are five children, Edwin A. (Barbara) Green, Saginaw; Steven M. (Sharen) Green, Vassar; Greg (Teresa) Green, Freeland; Scott Gerard (Dawn) Green, Petoskey; and Amy Jo (Mike) Slancik, Kalamazoo; 11 grandchildren, Colleen, Heidi, Heather, Erica, Chad, Logan, Scotty, Billy, Amanda, Trace, Avery; 18 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; a sister, Clara Hauser and a brother, James Green; many nieces and nephews.
Ed was preceded in death by two siblings, William Green and Beverly Dycewicz. The family would like to acknowledge their sincere appreciation to Nurse Jennifer (V.A. Medical Center) and Nurse Donna (Compassus Hospice) for their kind and loving care. Funeral Liturgy will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, May 10, 2019 at St. John Paul II Parish – St. Josaphat Catholic Church, 469 Shattuck Rd.
Rev. Fr. James Bessert will officiate.
Honoring Mr. Green’s wishes cremation will follow. Military Honors will be rendered by V.F.W. Post #1859. Friends may visit at The Snow Funeral Home, 3775 N. Center Rd.
, (between Shattuck and McCarty), where the family will be present on Thursday from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and on Friday at the church from 10:00 a.m. until the time of Mass. A Vigil Service will take place at 7:00 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
