Edwin Robert Witt Jr, March 08, 1937 — February 22, 2019

Edwin Robert Witt, Jr., 81, of Connellsville, formerly of Somerset, passed away Fri. Feb. 22, 2019.

He was born March 8, 1937 in Somerset, a son of the late Edwin R. and Florence L. Miller Witt, Sr. Ed was a graduate of Somerset Area High School with the class of 1956. Prior to his retirement he worked as a self employed Painting Contractor and had his own business, Edwin R. Witt, Jr. Painting and Decorating. He was also the owner and operator of Witt’s Paint and Wall Coverings in Somerset.

Ed was a Veteran of the Korean War having served in the U.S. Army and he was a member of the American Legion #181 in Somerset. Ed was a member of several fraternal and social clubs including, Somerset Lodge 0358 F & AM, Ancient and Accepted Scottish Rite Valley of Harrisburg, the Jaffa Shriners, Somerset County Shrine Club,, Independent Order of Odd Fellows, and the Fraternal Order of Eagles in Somerset. Ed was an avid outdoorsman and hunter.

He was a member of the New Baltimore Sportsmen’s Club and the Beaver Bruck Club. Ed was a member of the Christ Casebeer Lutheran Church in Somerset. Ed was a loving husband, father, and grandfather and he will be sadly missed but fondly remembered by his loving family, his wife of 60 years Nancy Jo Shaffer Witt, his children Lisa Fosbrink and husband Lee of Connellsville, with who he had been residing, and Lois Caton and husband Owen of Fairhope, his grandchildren Courtney and Benjamin Geary both of Somerset, Nichole Caton, Justine Geesaman, and Jarrett Caton, all of Carlisle, and Kristen Caton of Berlin, his great grandchild Carver Geesaman, his sisters Jean Hochard and Janet Witt both of Somerset, and his friend Mary Caton of Fairhope.

In addition to his parents Ed was predeceased by his sister Barbara Shaffer. It was Ed’s request there will be no viewing or services. A private Memorial Service will be held for the family at a later date.
