Eileen Mae Shippey Whetstone Obituary Photo

Eileen Mae (Shippey) Whetstone, 88, slipped into eternity with Jesus Christ, her Lord on May 8th 2019 at 1:56 P.M. She was the elder daughter of John A. and Violet M. (Myers) Shippey, (both deceased), and sister of Shirley Shippey Lohr, (deceased), all of Manns Choice RD, PA. Eileen married Clarence E. (Arch) Whetstone, Jr. in 1951.

They had two children, Kevan D. husband of Christina (Ruppel) Whetstone, Buffalo Mills and Deena K. Whetstone Leonard and fiance Craig Bischof, Bedford. There is one blood grandchild, Arah J. Leonard Cornell, with two great grandchildren, Lainey Childers and Dantae Weiss. This is my tribute to a great woman.

Eileen worked first at Washington Bakery in Bedford. Soon she began a career as a telephone operator in Bedford, PA, then following my schooling, in Mansfield, PA, and Morristown, NJ. She loved being an operator and excelled at it.

Eileen was a marvelous homemaker. I always heralded her skill in the kitchen. No matter how little we had, she always managed to make delicious meals.

She was a wonderful home manager. The house became a home under her care and was always ultra clean and organized. Eileen was a superb director of home finances.

She could make the proverbial penny squeal. Our home offered hospitality to many, some for years. Eileen was loved and respected by her many friends, especially the circle of our church.

Always in church, she taught children’s Sunday School, Vacation Bible School, and sang in the Chancel Choir. We were regulars in Bible Study/Prayer Meetings, Agape Fellowship, Jesus Festivals, etc. We prayed and worshipped together, planned and worked together, played and loved together.

Both of us were faithful to each other, faithful to our vows, and faithful to God. Our marriage was as perfect as I can imagine a marriage being. For sixty-seven years she was my best friend, constant companion, my love.

Having slipped the bonds of this mortal body, I know you are in heaven with Jesus, our Lord. I will see you soon. All my love, Arch.

Friends will be received on Monday, May 14, 2019 from 2-4 and 7-9 PM at Mickle-Geisel Funeral Home, Bedford. A funeral service will be held at Bedford United Methodist Church, Bedford at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, May 14, 2019 with Pastor Robert Marsh officiating. Interment at Dry Ridge Cemetery, Manns Choice.

Online condolences may be expressed at www. geiselfuneral.com. Arrangements entrusted to Louis Geisel Funeral Home, Bedford.
