Obituary for Elaine D. Merold Elaine Del Castillo Merold, 66, passed away peacefully at home on Friday, August 31, 2018. She was born on December 1, 1951, in Mesa, Arizona to Anthony Martinez Del Castillo and Sarah Carmela Cortez Del Castillo. Her husband of 36 years, Mark James Merold and her mother, Sarah Dixon, survives Elaine.

She is also survived by 4 sisters: Rachel Ann Paulin, Kathleen Wickline, Irene Rowland (Martin), Carol Lorraine Mooney, and brother, Anthony Michael (Marcy). She leaves behind numerous nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and nephews. Preceding her in death are her father, Anthony, stepfather Douglas Dixon, and three nephews.

As an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Elaine loved serving in Primary and ministering to others as a visiting teacher. She had a strong testimony of the gospel and repeatedly said it was the scriptures that brought her peace and comfort throughout her long illness. Her many nieces and nephews brought her great joy and “Aunt Elaine” was incredibly proud of them all!

A visitation will be held on Friday evening, September 7th at Meldrum Mortuary, 52 N Macdonald, Mesa, AZ. Funeral services are 10:00 AM Saturday, September 8, 2018 at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 5620 E. Adobe, Mesa, AZ. Interment will be at Mesa City Cemetery.
