ADKINS, Elden B. “Stymie” Age 85, of New Lebanon, Ohio, went to be with the Lord, Thursday, July 5, 2018. He was born February 20, 1933 in Lucasville, Ohio to the late Harry and Prudie Adkins, Sr. Stymie was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Robert Adkins and Harry Adkins, Jr; and sisters, Justine Chandler and Pauline Bealor. He is survived by his loving wife of 65 years, Vivian Arlene Adkins; children, Jack (Carla) Truesdale, Yvonne (Gene) Bowser, Terry… Read More » (Helene) Adkins, and Sharon (Steve) Kreitzer; 2 loving grandchildren, Brent Bowser and Adam Bernheisel; siblings, Curt (Freda) Adkins and Donna (Phillip) Fannin; and special friends, Dick and Ginger Sullenburger.

Stymie had worked at Pennsylvania Railroad, McCall’s Corp. , and New Lebanon Dixie High School in the maintenance for 25 years. He was loved by all and known by the nickname of “Stymie”.

Woodworking, fishing, horseback riding, and watching sports are just a few of the things he enjoyed, but most of all being with family and close friends. He always had a smile and helping hand when someone needed it. Stymie was also a member of First Baptist Church of New Lebanon.

The family will receive friends Tuesday, July 10 from 5-8PM at First Baptist Church of New Lebanon, 335 S. Church Street, New Lebanon, and from 10-11AM on Wednesday, July 11 also at the church. The funeral service will begin at 11AM with Pastor Stephen Betts officiating. Burial will follow at Sugar Grove Cemetery, West Alexandria.
