God dispatched the Angel of Death to relay a message to Elder Garland saying “I see your road is rough, and the hill is getting too steep.
Come rest your head upon My breast, your soul I will keep”. I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith: Henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give me at that day: and not to me only, but unto all them also that love his appearing. 2 Timothy 4:7-8 King James Version (KJV) Elder Howard Garland, Jr., was born Friday, November 19, 1937 in Cairo, Georgia to Howard Sr., and Abnease Brown Garland.
He was joined in Holy Matrimony to Rosa Lee Garland, their union was blessed with seven bouncing boys. He retired from Arizona Chemical Company. Elder Garland accepted Christ into his life at an early age.
He joined his wife, Bishop Rosa Lee Garland in the House of Praise Church under the her leadership, until her earthly departure. Their union was blessed to have raised six sons. He was a loving husband father, grandfather and friend.
He enjoyed going fishing and never met a stranger. He was a giver and would help anyone in need. He was preceded in death by his parents, Howard Sr., (Tuesday, December 15, 1998) and Abnease Brown Garland (Sunday, July 28, 1996); his wife, Bishop Rosa Lee Bryant Garland (Friday, April 5, 2014); his son, Gregory Garland, Sr. (Sunday, February 26, 2017).
He is survived by his sons: Mitchal Garland (Marjorie) of Killeen, Texas, Anthony Garland (Carolyn) of Tallahassee, Florida, Darryl Donell Garland (Tammi) of Tallahassee, Florida, Drexel Garland, Sr. (Shabral) of San Angelo, Texas, Billy Charles Martin (Verine) of Crestview, Florida, James Fenn and Tommy Garland both of Port St. Joe, Florida; LaCheryl Michelle Fields (Bobby) who was raised as a daughter; brothers and sisters: Clyde Garland (Mary) of Orlando, Florida, Kenny Garland (Penny) of Atlanta, Georgia, Darin Garland of Port St. Joe, Florida, Patricia Leslie (Charles) of Miami, Florida, Annette Torres (Carlos) of Harrisburg, Pennsylvania and Debra Garland of Phoenix, Arizona; brothers and sister-in-law: Waymon Bryant of Port St. Joe, Florida, John Bryant (Noy) of Panama City, Florida; great uncle: Frederick Garland (Olivia) of Newark, New Jersey; numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends. Please keep the Garland family in prayer, as we reflect the gracious memories.
