Eleanor Hickey October 28, 1928 – March 11, 2019 Share this obituary Upload Photo| Sign Guestbook| Send Sympathy Card Eleanor (Casey) Conley Hickey formerly of Thomas Graves Landing, 4 Canal Park in Cambridge, MA passed away peacefully 03/11/2019 at The Stone Institute in Newton, MA at the age of 90. Eleanor was a graduate of Emmanuel College, a creative writer, pen and ink artist, and teacher to both young and old. Always a positive outlook on life she leaves her soulmate and life-partner Thomas Fitzgibbon of Newton, MA and joins her deceased husband Charles L Conley Sr. who passed away in 1978, and Andrew F Hickey who passed in 1993, and her sister Mary Agnes Sullivan of Falmouth, MA who passed in 1995.
She is survived by her children Charles L Conley Jr, of Houston, TX, Stephen C Conley of No. Attleboro, MA, Thomas M Conley of Martha’s Vineyard and Mary Elizabeth Conley of Hyannis, MA. Eleanor also leaves behind her 5 grandchildren: Erin Porter, Elizabeth Conley, Jennifer Chapin, Patrick Conley, Katherine Conley as well as 5 great grandchildren: Faolin Conley-Karam, Sierra Porter, Anabelle Porter, Josie Chapin, and Wesley Chapin.
Thomas Fitzgibbon’s children: Anne Shusterman and husband Mark, of Boulder, CO, Matthew and Cynthia Fitzgibbon of Westwood, MA, Sheila and Kevin Deely of Roslindale MA, Amy and Ray Porfiri of Halifax, VA, and Sean and Jean Fitzgibbon of Milton, MA. Along with Tom’s 12 grandchildren. Andrew Hickey’s children include: Francis Hickey who resides in Idaho, Christine Hickey-MA, Julia Hickey -MA, Patricia Monroe -ME, Rosemary Totman-MA, Pauline Hickey-MA, Timothy Hickey-CA, and John Hickey who passed in 2009, along with Andy’s 21 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren.
Eleanor’s sister Mary’s husband Dan Sullivan passed away in 1967. Their eldest daughter Mary Ellen Sullivan deceased in 2005, Nancy Bundy, Sheila and George Harper, Carla and Brooke Sullivan, Daniel Sullivan, Michael Sullivan, and Mark Sullivan along with Mary’s 8 grandchildren. Eleanor was born in Ware, MA.
She survived the Great Depression, WW2, the building of the Big Dig in Boston while residing in the city, and lived a life enduring setbacks and filled with comebacks. Her charm, beauty, wit, and wisdom passed on to her grandchildren makes them all strong and unique. Her love will be missed by all.
Funeral Service in the Bigelow Chapel of Mt. Auburn Cemetery, 580 Mt. Auburn St. Cambridge on Friday at 11 A.M. Relatives and friends respectfully invited to attend.
