Elizabeth “Betsy” Gupton Murphy, age 75 of Glendon died Friday, February 1, 2019 at her home. Funeral services will be 1:00 PM Monday at Horseshoe Presbyterian Church conducted by the Rev. Michael Fox.

Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5:00 – 7:00 PM Sunday at Fry & Prickett Funeral Home and other times at the home. A native of Moore County she was a daughter of the late Thurman and Nell (Mashburn) Gupton.

Betsy was deeply loved by her family and friends. She worked various job including Western Auto in Carthage, the Talc Mine in Glendon, Quality Mills and her last job as a cashier at Carthage Farm Supply. Those who knew Betsy knew she was an avid Carolina Tarheel fan.

She is survived by her husband of 55 years, Wayne Murphy; her children Stephen Murphy and wife Sherrie of Carthage, Susan Murphy of Glendon, Brad Murphy of Westmore, Jason Murphy and wife Kimberly of Glendon; sisters Jean Daniels of Smithfield, VA, Nelda Gupton of Glendon; brother William Gupton of Glendon; grandchildren Andy and Kaylee. Fry & Prickett Funeral Home is serving the Murphy family.
