An excellent teacher and wise preceptor, Betty always insisted that her charges “Look at the patient not just the monitors” and asking, “How can you affect the quality of your patient’s day? ” Many a fledgling ICU nurse learned valuable skills from Betty and many a medical resident got an earful when they wrote an order that Betty found deficient; this only happened once for them. Betty was also active in her faith community who supported her during more than one difficult time in her life.

Betty established volunteer service days, chaired committees, prepared food and served weddings and events with the formidable ladies of the Ruth Circle. The family wishes to extend their sincere thanks to the entire staff of The Pines in Richfield, Grace Hospice and her sweet girls from Home Instead Senior Care who provided such loving and meticulous care that met Betty’s high standards.
