OBITUARY Elizabeth J. Vingoe September 3, 1920 – December 19, 2018 Elizabeth Jean Vingoe was born in Peterson, Iowa, on September 3, 1920. On December 19, 2018, she passed peacefully from this life into the arms of her Savior, Jesus Christ. She was the daughter of Reverend William Newton Moore, a Congregational minister and his wife, Jessie Mae (Everson) Moore.

She graduated from Oberlin College in 1942 with a degree in Sociology. In June 1943, she married Ronald Vingoe in Brighton, Ohio. They were married for 54 years prior to Ronald’s death in 1997.

Her husband was a personal photographer for General Douglas MacArthur, accompanying him during the closing days of WWII in 1945. Mrs. Vingoe was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. She served as a Stephen Minister at Memorial Drive United Methodist Church.

Her faith and countenance reflected her deep love for Christ. She also travelled extensively throughout various parts of the world. Following her husband’s retirement from Armco Steel Corporation, she worked alongside him in his consulting work.

Mrs. Vingoe is survived by her daughter, Susan Cessna and husband John of Richmond, Texas, and son, Douglas Vingoe and wife Katherine of Houston, Texas. They will miss their mother’s beautiful spirit, as will her grandchildren, Stephanie (Cessna) Mueller and husband Alex, John S. Cessna and wife Kate, Kristen Vingoe, and Zachary Vingoe. The family wishes to thank Joy Cerina Dada for her faithful care of Mrs. Vingoe over many years, as well as the staff of Parkway Place Assisted Living and Skilled Nursing for their outstanding attention to her well-being.

A private interment will be held. A celebration of Mrs. Vingoe’s life will be held in January. Charitable contributions in memory of Mrs. Vingoe may be given to the American Bible Society or the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association.
