OBITUARY Elizabeth W, Jones March 14, 1932 – November 21, 2018 JONES, ELIZABETH WILLIAMS. Elizabeth Williams Jones, age 86, life-long resident of Birmingham, died peacefully at home on November 21, 2018. She was born on March 14, 1932.

Mrs. Jones was preceded in death by her husband, Edward Kenworthy Carlisle Jones; her parents, Haskins Williams II and Mary Tippins Williams; and her granddaughter, Elizabeth Bailey Jones. She is survived by her sons, James Monroe Jones (Katherine), Edward Kenworthy Carlisle Jones, Jr. (Vivian), Francis Clark Jones (Ileana) and Haskins Williams Jones (Ann); grandchildren, James Monroe Jones, Jr., Edward Kenworthy Carlisle Jones III, Graham Clark Jones (Kathleen), Rachel Jones Lopez (Clark), Haskins Williams Jones, Jr., Catherine Witherspoon Jones, and Mary Carlisle Jones; and great-granddaughter, Augusta Brooks Lopez. She is also survived by her sisters, Rena Williams (Steve Harrison) and Mary Tippins Hoff; and nieces and grandnieces.

Mrs. Jones graduated from Ramsey High School. She attended Holton-Arms College in Washington, DC, and the University of Alabama. At the University, Betty met her future husband, Carlisle.

They married on September 18, 1953, and were married for 55 years before his death in 2009. Mrs. Jones was devoted to her family and cherished their time together. She had an adventuresome spirit, loved to travel, and took particular delight in her times spent in Paris.

Betty was artistic and creative and had an elegant, whimsical sense of style. She was a member of Cadmean Circle, Red Mountain Garden Club and Grapevine Garden Club. A memorial service will be held at 1:00 p.m., at St. Mary’s on-the-Highlands Episcopal Church, after which the family will receive friends in the church living room.

Those wishing to honor Betty’s memory are requested to do so with a gift to St. Mary’s on-the-Highlands or a favorite charity.
