Obituary of Elizabeth Bazemore Elizabeth “Liz” Ann Gore Bazemore finished her journey here and began her eternal life on Saturday, March 2, 2019. She was born in Marion, SC on December 5, 1936, the daughter of the late James Franklin Gore, Sr. and Sara Elizabeth Edmund Gore. She graduated from Mullins High School and Columbia College and came to Georgetown to work as the education director at Duncan United Methodist Church.

Later, she worked with the Georgetown County School District as a special education teacher, where she taught in the classroom and worked in the district office. She was passionate about making a difference in the lives of her students. In that capacity, her patience and her guidance impacted hundreds of young people.

She had a special place in her heart for each of them. After her retirement, she served on Georgetown’s Board of Disabilities and Special Needs. She was a member of Herbert United Methodist Church and served in many capacities there over the years including trustee, alter guild, Sunday School teacher and choir member.

She loved her church and her church family. Her favorite times were spent with family and friends, especially celebrating special occasions. She excelled in being a gracious hostess.

She will be missed by all who knew her. She is survived by the love of her life, her husband of 59 years, John “Jay” Bazemore, Sr.; her two sons and daughters-in-law, John “Jay” Jr. (Trudy) and James Robert “Bob” (Karen); her four adored grandchildren, Fletcher, Duncan, Hudson and Kalla; a sister, Mary Louise Johnson; a sister-in-law, Tempsey Ann Berry Gore; nieces, Cynthia Ann Gore Martin (Jody) and Mary Beth Johnson White (Will); a nephew, James Franklin Gore III (Heather), and several cousins. She was predeceased by her parents, and a brother, James Franklin Gore Jr. A service will be held at Herbert Memorial United Methodist Church at 3pm on Sunday, March 3, 2019 with the family receiving visitors prior to the service starting at 2pm.
