Obituary for Elma (Sis) Marie Brooks (Hansen) Elma (Sis) Marie Brooks (nee Hansen) Age 88 of Lonsdale, formerly of Bloomington, passed away Friday, November 23, 2018, surrounded by her family. Sis was born in Minneapolis on August 22, 1930. She was the second of eleven children born to Mathias and Elma C. Hansen.
Sis married Charles Lee Brooks on April 8, 1954 in Northwood, Iowa. Chuck and Sis purchased their home in Bloomington in August 1962, where they raised their 3 children. They were Bloomington residents for 53 years and then moved to Lonsdale in 2015.
Sis was an Executive Housekeeper for more than 40 years. She was a legend on the “Bloomington Strip” of hotels, employed at Holiday Inn Airport, Howard Johnson’s and Holiday Inn International. Preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Mathias (Karen), Robert (Delsie), Norman (Beverly), Floyd (Doris); sisters, Dorothy (August) Anderson, Betty (Alfred) Engebretson, Jeanette (Delano) Swenson, Merry Hansen, Donna (Robert) Kelly; and son, Raymond Hansen.
Sis is survived by her husband of 64 years, Charles; children, Rodney (Miriam) Brooks, Rhonda (David) Solberg, and Rebekah (Anthony Conforti) Brooks; grandchildren, Jennifer Brooks (Andrew) Wieman, Gregory (Jordan Danielson) Brooks, Phillip (Vanessa Zins) Solberg, Steven Solberg, Jeffrey Solberg, and Michael Conforti; great-grandchildren, Alexander Wieman, Brianna Wieman, and baby boy Solberg (due December 2018); brother, Lloyd (Nancy) Hansen; numerous nieces, nephews, and other family and friends, including special friends, Nancy, Linda, Jackie, Shawn, Maureen, Paul and Ronan. Funeral service Tuesday, November 27, 2018 at 10 AM ~ Gill Brothers Bloomington Chapel, 9947 Lyndale Ave. South.
