Elmer Esmond Hughes, 85, passed from this earth on March 8, 2019. He was born January 13, 1934 to E. Esmond and Inez Pickett Hughes. He was married for 63 years to Yvonne Rae Linde and they were married in the St. George, UT temple on June 2, 1956.

Elmer’s first love was his family. He taught school for thirty plus years, starting in Las Vegas, NV and eventually came back to his hometown where he grew up, and taught fifth grade in Mesquite, NV. He loved trains, music and traveling.

He especially loved to sing and had joined the South Utah Heritage Choir. While with the choir, he enjoyed all of their adventures for many years. He served a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints to the Northwest region and while there, he hadn’t realize he had met his future bride, of now 63 years.

After they were married, he was called into service for the United States Army and was later honorably discharged. He attended school after his service. He is preceded in death by his parents; E. Esmond and Inez Hughes.
