Elsie Corrine Fenwick February 24, 1927 – May 05, 2019 Share this obituary Send Flowers Sign Guestbook| Send Sympathy Card Elsie Corrine Jones was born in Colville, Washington, on February 24, 1927. She celebrated her 92nd birthday this year. Elsie was the youngest of three children born to Lydia Bertha Jones and Thomas George Jones.

Her mother and father, brothers Carl Jones and Clarence Jones, predeceased her, as well as her first husband, Theodore E. Hoefel, and her second husband Joseph Fenwick. Elsie’s family moved to Spokane, Washington from Colville, Washington during the great depression and settled in an area of Spokane known as Hillyard. Elsie was a graduate of Rogers High School and Kinman Business College in Spokane.

She was a life-long member of Hillyard Baptist Church in Spokane. She met and married Theodore E. Hoefel in 1953. They had four sons, Robert, Richard, Michael and Stephen.

She was an active member at Hillyard Baptist Church. Elsie sang in the choir and performed an occasional solo. She taught church kindergarten classes for many years.

She was the President of the Loma Vista PTA and helped her husband who was the Loma Vista Cub Scout leader and Loma Vista Jets Pee Wee baseball coach. Elsie made sure each of her children received private music lessons as well as participated in Spokane public school bands and all city band. She took vocal lessons from Mrs. Arnold and piano lessons later when she moved to Federal Way.

She was also insistent that each of her children receive post-secondary education. Elsie was always athletic and placed fourth in the 50 plus age category in the Blooms Day Run in Spokane, Washington in 1977. She enjoyed golf most of her life.

After her first husband’s death from cancer in 1992, she met Joseph Fenwick on the North Shore Golf Course. Their mutual love of golf became a romance which then became a 17 year marriage. Elsie transitioned from a stay at home mom to a legal assistant in a Spokane law firm in the 1960s.

She ended her professional career working as an administrative assistant at Deaconess Hospital in Spokane in 1990. Her retirement was shortened by the death of her husband Theodore E. Hoefel in 1992. She moved to Federal Way Washington to be near her children.

She became a member of Steel Lake Presbyterian church joining with her new husband Joseph Fenwick. Elsie lived in Federal Way with Joe for 17 years. Joe and Elsie moved into the Foundation house in 2010.

Joe predeceased Elsie in 2011. Elsie struggled with health concerns her last few years. She spent her last 6 months at Garden Terrace.

Elsie is survived by her four children, Robert, Richard, Michael and Stephen. She has 8 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren. Donations may be made, in lieu of flowers, to Franciscan Hospice in University Place, Washington, or to Steel Lake Presbyterian Church, Federal Way, Washington.
