Elsie V. Menard, 92, of Jaffrey, NH, died peacefully at her home on November 9, 2018. She was born on June 1, 1926 in Jamaica Plains, MA, daughter of the late John and Beatrice (Hill) Jacobs. She married Mitchell Menard and together had built their first two homes in Fitzwilliam, before moving to Troy and eventually to Jaffrey.

She eventually retired after working for many years at the historic Fitzwilliam Inn. She was a loving wife and mother, a devout Christian, a voracious reader and enjoyed word puzzles.

She was an active gardener and always tended her yards. She loved her horses and enjoyed riding snowmobiles with her family for many years. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Menard was predeceased by her husband and by her sisters June and Sandra, and by her brothers John, Roland and Norman.

She is survived by her daughter, Gail Menard Piemontese of Shelbyville, TN and her son, Mitchell J. Menard and his wife Carol of Rindge, NH; 5 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren; 3 great-great-grandchildren; her sisters, Dorothy Naylor of Salem, NH, Catherine Rioux of Chester, NH, Rosemary Norris of South Carolina and Jean Sanborne of Florida, and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Family and friends are invited to Calling Hours on Wednesday, November 14, 2018 from 1:00PM to 2:00PM at the Cournoyer Funeral Home, 33 River Street, (Rte. 202) Jaffrey, NH.

A Funeral Service will be held immediately following calling hours at 2:00PM in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Ilona Kwiecien officiating. Burial will take place in the Spring in Mountain View Cemetery in Troy, NH.
