OBITUARY Elvree Ilene Grooms July 5, 1940 – November 23, 2018 Elvree Ilene “Nanny” Grooms was the daughter of Harvell Finley and Emmalue Lucile Sullivan Finley. She was born on July 5, 1940 in Postelle, Arkansas and went to be with our Lord on November 23, 2018 at the age of 78. She was married to William David “Papa” Grooms on January 11, 1958 and they were able to celebrate 56 years together.

Together they raised three children – Jana Grooms Weaver, David Manual Grooms, and William Darrell Grooms. Nanny was dedicated to her family. She was a strong woman with an exceptionally kind spirit and a generous heart.

She was always willing to help anyone in need. She provided in-home daycare to many children over the span of 40+ years. Nanny retired in 2012 due to her health but left a lasting, positive impact on many children.

She is survived by daughter, Jana Weaver and her husband Billy of Canton, Texas; son, David Grooms and his wife Darlene of Seagoville, Texas; and son, Darrell Grooms and his wife Cheri of Forney, Texas. Five Grandchildren, Billy Joe Weaver and his wife Brittni of Canton, Texas; Cassie Grooms of Seagoville, Texas; Ashley Grooms of Seagoville, Texas; Will Grooms of Forney, Texas; and David Lee Jones of Marshall, Texas. Six Great Grandchildren, Hailey Gonzales and David Henson of Seagoville, Texas; Grayson and Alice Weaver of Canton, Texas; Tucker and Addi Jones of Marshall, Texas.

She is also survived by her sisters Edith Word and her husband Harvey of Pell City, Alabama; Betty Nowell of Alton, Missouri; Diann Pickett of Couch, Missouri; Rachel Cantrell of Alton, Missouri; brother-in- law Jerry Grooms of Glencoe, Arkansas as well as many nieces, nephews and other relatives. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, parents and brother, Ray Finley. There are countless others that called her Nanny and loved her as their own mother or grandmother.

She made a difference in so many lives and will be dearly missed.
