Elwood’s Obituary Elwood Arning was born in Kenney, TX on August 4, 1939. He peacefully passed away in his home in Bellville, TX, surrounded by his loving family, on Sunday, May 19th. Elwood graduated from Bellville High School in 1957.

He married Diane Arceneaux Arning on February 16, 1970 and just celebrated their 49th anniversary together. Elwood spent most of his later years working in the well service industry including Comet Well Service and Exxon. After several years, he and his brothers decided to go into business for themselves and started Arning Well Service.

He later decided to run the company on his own and bought their shares. After many years of hard work, dedication, and many miles of driving, he sold his company to another well service, but remained working for them until he retired. He enjoyed keeping his lawn well manicured and always loved spending time with his sons, Erland and Eric.

He loved his grandsons deeply and all six of his grandsons put a smile on his face every time they visited. Elwood touched many people throughout his life. He was strong in his faith and was baptized in March of 2018.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Arthur Arning Sr. and Nettie Loesch Arning Kurtz, and his two brothers, Arthur William Arning and Eugene Alvin Arning. Elwood is survived by his lovingly devoted wife, Diane; sons, Dr. Erland Arning (Tonya) and Eric Arning (Mandy); six grandsons, Jourdan, Ethan, Colby, Kasey, Colin, and Dylan; sister, France Sims (Floyd); Sister-in-laws, Audrey Saucier (Narry), Evelyn Guidry (Lenet), Loretta Arning, and Lois Lovell (Glen); and numerous nieces and nephews. Pallbearers – Wayne Peschel, Gene Thomas, Bobby Sims, Clayton Ignasiak, Ronnie Robertson, Samuel Pfeffer, James Hagen, and Jay Zapada Honorary Pallbearers – Jourdan Arning, Ethan Arning, Colby Arning, Kasey Arning, Colin Arning, Dylan Arning, Chad Pearce, Larry Sims, Kelton Arning, and Randall Sims God saw Elwood’s brave fight from a long battle with cancer and decided to call him home into his loving and waiting arms.

You will be so greatly missed, Elwood, and will always be remembered. Rest In Peace, our dear loved one, and until we meet again. Memorials may be made in Elwood’s name to: Nelsonville Brethren Church 332 Nelsonville Church Rd.
