Emma Allene Pauley, age 98, of Holts Summit, Mo. , passed away Saturday, March 9, 2019 at The Timbers Assisted Living. Emma was born on January 27, 1921 in Columbia, Mo.
, the daughter of Thomas and Elsie (Stout) Parsons. She was married on January 12, 1947 to William Pauley who preceded her in death on November 18, 2008. A lifelong resident of the central Missouri area, Emma was a 1939 graduate of Hickman High School in Columbia, Mo.
A homemaker for the majority of her life, Emma had a giving heart and volunteered with several organizations in our community. Most notably, she helped with the Capital Region Medical Center and the Special Learning Center. She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Victoria Chapter #14.
She possessed a strong faith and was a longtime member of First Presbyterian Church where she served as a deacon. Emma had a creative spirit and was gifted in sewing. She cherished family gatherings and her family will remember her for being an excellent cook.
Survivors include: two daughters, Karen DeFrances (husband Tony) of Baton Rouge, La. , and Cherly Blizzard (husband Frank) of Albuquerque, Nm. ; five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her loving husband of 61 years, Bill; and one granddaughter, Casey DeFrances. Visitation will be held at First Presbyterian Church from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. Friday, March 15, 2019. A memorial service will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Friday, March 15, 2019 at the First Presbyterian Church with the Reverend Barry Williams officiating.
Private graveside services and interment will be held at Riverview Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to the First Presbyterian Church and Shriners Hospitals for Children. The family would like to thank the staff at the Timbers Assisted Living and Hospice Compassus for the care and concern they showed Emma and her First Presbyterian Church family for all the love and friendly visits through the years.
