Emma’s Obituary Emma Montoya HELPER-Eufemia “Emma” Montoya, age 98, passed away May 1, 2019 at the Good Life Senior Living in Price. She was born January 7, 1921 in Lumberton, New Mexico to Cornelio and Marina Lucero Montoya. Married Jose Eudoro Montoya, August 24, 1949 in Lumberton, New Mexico; he died September 24, 1998.

Emma’s foundation in life was based on two important principles. Dedication to the Catholic faith and the love of her family. Emma was a wonderful mother.

She worked extremely hard to provide for her children. It was very important to her that they have a good education. She exhibited a strong work ethic and instilled those values in her sons and grandchildren.

Her kindness and caring towards others was a natural part of her character. She enjoyed spending time with her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren whom she deeply loved. She looked forward to visiting the ranch in Lumberton, New Mexico where she spent her childhood.

Emma’s eyes would light up every time she saw little lambs. She loved all of God’s natural beauty. Emma enjoyed many activities which included picking pine nuts, gathering choke cherries, going on picnics and attending local sporting events.

The family would like to give s special thanks to the wonderful staff at Castleview Hospital, Good Life Senior Living and Rocky Mountain Hospice. Survivors include her three sons, Steven Montoya, Helper, Tom (Sheila) Montoya, Grangeville, ID. , Michael C. Montoya, Green River, WY; sister, Maria Ida Hernandez, Albuquerque, NM; six grandchildren, Michelle Montoya, Theresa (Mike) Trujillo, Marina Montoya, Michael Montoya, Madison Montoya and Macey Montoya; 2 great-grandchildren, Emma and Amy Trujillo.

Preceded in death by parents, husband, Jose Eudoro Montoya; sons, Baby Montoya and Baby Michael; sister, Anna Marie; four brothers, Santos, Carlos J., Gilberto H., and Victoriano M.; grandson, Mathew Montoya. Funeral Mass, Tuesday, May 7, 2019, 10:00 a.m., St. Anthony Catholic Church. Vigil service, Monday evening, 7:00 p.m., also at the church in Helper.

Family will receive friends at St. Anthony’s Monday and Tuesday one hour prior to services. Committal service, Mt. View Cemetery, Helper.
