Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm Wednesday, February 6th at Culpepper Funeral Home Chapel; burial to follow at New Salem Cemetery in Hesterville. Visitation will be 5:00 – 7:00 pm Tuesday and 12:00 noon until service time Wednesday at the funeral home.
Dr. Gary Thornton will officiate. Mrs. Thornton was a member of Friendship Methodist church. She was a Homemaker.
She is survived by sons, Roger (Mary Jane) Thornton, Tommy (Denise) Thornton, Rickey (Stacie) Thornton, Tim (Sandra) Thornton; daughters, Deana Doylette Veazey, Diane (Billy) Hambrick; brother, O.D. McElroy; 13 grandchildren; 22 great grandchildren; 4 step great grandchildren; 1 great great grandchild; 2 step great great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents, Oliver Hazzard and Erma Curtis McElroy; husband, Doyle Thornton; brothers, Curtis, Carl and Paul McElroy; sister, Loreen Williams.
