Erma O. Davis, 95, of South San Francisco, peacefully passed away in her home on Tuesday, September 11, 2018. Erma Louise Obertreis was born on December 9th, 1922, in Butte, Montana to parents Charles and Emma Jane (Jewell) Obertreis and older brother Hans (dec). Erma lost both of her parents before she was ten years old, which left her in the care of her Aunt Rose.

When Erma was in High School, she and her Aunt moved to San Francisco. Not long after graduating high school, Erma met the love of her life, Harry L. Davis. Erma and Harry married in September of 1942.

They went on to have four children: Gail, Karen, Gary, and Glen. Her family was her pride and joy. Erma and Harry were married for forty four years until Harry’s death in June of 1987.

Erma lived her life serving others, whether it be helping with the PTA and scouts when her children were young, to working for the United States Post Office for 20 years, to post retirement, volunteering at the local food pantry for over 20 years, to crocheting and donating over 80 blankets to senior care facilities. Erma was an accomplished pianist, a member of the Eastern Star, a proud resident of South San Francisco for over 66 years, an avid reader, made amazing ham with her special “Secret Sauce”, and she never met someone whom she couldn’t strike up a friendly conversation with. Erma was the backbone of her family and a friend to all.

She will be greatly missed. Erma leaves behind her children, Gail and wife Shirley, Karen and husband Ravi Singh, Gary and wife Brenda, and Glen Davis, and six grandchildren, Danielle Whitaker, Darrell Davis, Darren Davis, Jennifer Dill, Nicholas Davis, and Jacquline Davis, along with eleven great-grandchildren.
