Retired from sales, a United States Navy veteran of 15 years who served in Vietnam, and attended the First Baptist Church, he was the son of the late Louis Edwin and Virginia Rose Turner Frankenberg, Sr. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by sister, Jeanette Carol Harper. He was married on April 8, 1978 to Deborah “Debbie” Preston Frankenberg of McMinnville.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by brother and sister-in-law, Louis Edwin and Nancy Frankenberg, Jr. of Morristown, TN; sister and brother-in-law, Virginia Rose and Pete Mellinger of Oregon; two sisters-in-law, Cynthia Preston of McMinnville and Gerlinde Rogers of Rock Island, TN; mother-in-law, Frances James of McMinnville; father-in-law, Harry Preston of Crossville, TN; and several nieces and nephews also survive.
