Ernesto’s Obituary ERNESTO GONZALEZ JR. Ernesto Gonzalez Jr. was born August 27, 1943 in Agualeguas, Nuevo Leon to Santos (Ramos) Gonzalez and Ernesto Gonzalez. He was the second eldest of 7 children: Amparo San Miguel+, Sergio Gonzalez, Lilia Corvera, Elisa Romo, Teresa Figueroa and Jose Ramon Gonzalez.

Ernesto is survived by his loving wife, of 51 years, Graciela Gonzalez Hinojosa; along with 3 children, Ernesto Gonzalez III (Beatriz Gonzalez), Julissa Liendo (Gerardo Liendo) and Aracely Cadena (Ernesto Cadena). He was a proud grandfather of 8 grandchildren: Ernesto Gonzalez IV, Edgar Gonzalez, Emmanuel Gonzalez, Karina Liendo, Gerardo Liendo Jr., Antonio Liendo, Vanessa Liendo, and Sarai Cadena. Ernesto worked for General Motors under the department of Electric Motor Division (EMD) in Chicago, Illinois from 1970-1980 as an Inspector Supervisor of Machinery.

During the mid-80’s, accompanied by his wife and family, he moved to Laredo, Texas. Once settled in Laredo, Ernesto jointly with Graciela embarked in a business opportunity and opened Julissa Jeans in downtown Laredo from 1983-1989. Ernesto then proceeded to work for Jett Sales as a security guard, working as most loyal employee from 1990-2016.

One of Ernesto’s underlying passions was aviation. During his employment with General Motors, influenced by a colleague, he developed an interest in aviation. He decided to enroll in aviation private classes with the goal to become a Single Engine Pilot.

Although having begun his coursework in Chicago, he completed and earned his Private Pilot License in Laredo on December 3rd, 1982. His last years were dedicated to his wife, children, grandchildren, family, and friends. He enjoyed watching his favorite show Jeopardy, listening to music, watching old movies, reading his pilot magazines, and working on his cars (mechanics).

His humorous loving character and laughter will be eternally cherished and remembered by all his family and friends. St. Joseph Catholic Church under the direction of Most Reverend Father Janusz Glabinski. Visitation will be held on Monday, May, 6, 2019 from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. and a Vigil of the Deceased will be held at 7 p.m. in the Hernandez, Lopez and Sons, Northside Chapels, 800 Boston St. on San Bernardo Ave.

Funeral services will begin departing the funeral home chapel at 8:30 a.m. on Tuesday, May 7, 2019. Holy Mass will be celebrated at 9 a.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church. Committal services and interment will follow at the Calvary Catholic Cemetery.
