OBITUARY Erskin “Bobby” Robert Hilyer January 19, 1957 – September 8, 2018 Erskine Robert “Bobby” Hilyer “Skin”, age 61 passed away peacefully and unexpectedly on September 8, 2018 at his home in Ten Mile, TN. He was a graduate of Vestavia Hills High School class of 1976 and proudly served in the United States Navy reaching the rank of Gunner’s Mate Gunner 1st Class. Bobby retired after 28 years of service from Abbott Laboratories in North Chicago, IL.
After his retirement he enjoyed being an avid fisherman and time with his family. He was preceded in death by his father Erskine R.C Hilyer and sister Deborah Hilyer. Skin is survived by his wife Mary Hilyer, daughter Jami Camire (Mike), son Bobby Hilyer (Stephanie), step son Craig Fraley (Wendy), mother Dorothy Hilyer, sisters: Monica Hubbard (George), Sherri Mirseyedi, Christine Langham (Larry) and 8 grandchildren and several other family members.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, September 13, 2018 at Ridout’s Valley Chapel from 5 pm until 7 pm. Graveside with military honors will be held at Alabama National Cemetery in Montevallo promptly at 2:45 pm on Friday, September 14, 2018. In lieu of flowers, memorials in memory of Erskine may be made to Watts Bar Lake Association, P.O. Box 956, Spring City, TN 37381.
