Obituary for Erzulie Appolon (Jean) Print Erzulie Appolon was born in a small village in the North West of Haiti; to parents father Examen Appolon and mother Cecilia Destin. After Erzulie completed middle school, she went to Trade School of the Nuns and obtained a nursing diploma. After this accomplishment, she married Mr. John Jean and left her native village to live in a city called Gonaives.
In Gonaives she spent most of her time practicing nursing in the General Hospital within the city. Erzulie did not have any children of her own, but she adopted three children by the name of Guerline Appolon, James Appolon and Natalie Appolon; whom she brought through college education. She enjoyed traveling to many small islands for commercial purposes.
After the death of her previous husband in October of 1979, Erzulie immigrated to the United States. She then went to school to learn the English language and began working as a certified nursing assistant. Erzulie also worked as a school bus monitor.
Erzulie continued to work until she retired in 2011 at Neponset Nursing Home in Dorchester Massachusetts. She was a very caring person who loved others while she focused on helping less fortunate women by assisting them with the needs to bring their children through school. One thing she regrets is the inability to bring two of her adopted children to the US from Haiti.
Though she was unable to do so, she continued to support them however possible. Erzulie was so charming and loving that when Mr. Gerard Loiseau met her in the early 2004, he fell in love with her and married her on November 2004. Since then he stayed by her side until Erzulie’s last breath.
I do want to remind those of you married men present here today, if you need lesson on how to care for your spouse when the devastated disease called “Alzheimer’s “ kidnaps your spouse from you, seek help from Mr. Gerard Loiseau for assistance. When things became worse with the agitations and beating, I would suggest placing Erzulie to an Alzheimer’s facility, he would reply “No I will stay by her side until the end. He forgot himself, cared for her through the beatings, accusations of cheating on, steeling her underwear from Caracas for the girl friend under the bed.
He stayed there taking the beating, never get discourage; instead he would call me to say here is Madame Metayer “I know you love her talk to her”. When I would pick up the phone, she would say are you coming to see me I have not had anything to eat, I am looking for my underwear I can not find them”. Then I would buy new underwear and bring them over, that still could not convince her, due to dementia.
No one could say anything wrong about “Madan Metayer” not even her cousin Versanes but me, and “(cote Guerline in)”.
