Eugene Allen Swinehart age 85, of Upper Sandusky, passed away on Wednesday January 30, 2019. Eugene was born on March 24, 1933 to the late Dale and Cora (Bolyard) Swinehart. He married Carolyn Taylor in 1958 at Emanuel UCC (Mud Church) and she survives in Upper Sandusky.

Eugene was a devoted husband to Carolyn for 61 years. He is survived by a daughter Debra K. (Jim) Hagarty, Akron, a son Daniel E. (Casaundra) Swinehart, Tipp City, five grandsons, Ryan and Adam Hagarty, Noah, Ethan and Aiden Swinehart and a sister Betty Carr, Upper Sandusky. Eugene was preceded in death by a brother, Thomas Swinehart.

He graduated from Upper Sandusky High School in 1952. He served in the United States Army from 1957 to 1959. Mr. Swinehart retired from the Wyandot County Hightway Department, having worked there for 38 years, retiring in 1990.

Eugene enjoyed old cars, attending public auctions, flea markets and a “good bargin”. He also enjoyed socializing and visiting at the Wyandot County Home and Fairhaven. Most of all he loved being a Grandpa to his five grandsons.

Visitation will be held on Sunday February 3, 2019 from 1:00-3:00pm at Bringman Clark Funeral. A funeral service will be held at 10:30am Monday February 4, 2019 at the funeral home with Pastor Dennis Livingston officiating. Interment will follow at Nevada Cemetery with full military services being conducted by Upper Sandusky Veterans Color Guard.
