Burdel, 80, of Du Quoin, passed away at 2:09 A.M., Tuesday, February 12, 2019 at the home of his son in Pinckneyville. Eugene had been a self-employed carpenter and had worked for Dale Williams and Du Quoin Home Lumber. He was of the Catholic faith.

Eugene was a fifty year member of Local 636. He was born August 16, 1938 at Granite City, IL, the son of Louis and Regina (Stepson) Burdel. He married Peggy Ann Nickens of Du Quoin.

He then married Nina M. Wooldridge on August 2, 1971 at Du Quoin, IL and she preceded him in death on February 3, 2007. He is survived by three children – Bobby Gene Burdel and wife Stacy of Pinckneyville, Tina Jo Wozneski and husband Steve of Casselberry, FL, and Donald Eugene Burdel of Willisville, one brother – Bernard Burdel and wife Tami of Du Quoin, two sisters – Jeannie Davison of Du Quoin and Martha Burnett and husband Jack of Troy, IL, ten grandchildren, two great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife – Nina, one son – William Joseph Burdel, two brothers – Richard Burdel and Thomas Burdel, and one sister – Cynthia Burdel.

Funeral services will be at 11:00 A.M., Friday, February 15, 2019 at the Searby Funeral Home in Du Quoin with Rev. Joe Wagner officiating. Friends may call from 9 A.M. until the time of service on Friday at the Searby Funeral Home in Du Quoin.

Burial will be in the McElvain Cemetery at Du Quoin. Friends may make memorials to the Sacred Heart Cemetery and will be accepted at the funeral home.
