OBITUARY Eugene Fredrick Naish August 27, 1933 – December 20, 2018 Eugene Fredrick Naish, age 85, of Gasport, entered into rest on Thursday, December 20, 2018 at Absolut Care of Gasport. Born August 27, 1933 in Lockport, Eugene is the son of the late: Charles F. and Elizabeth (Chamberlin) Naish. Eugene was predeceased by his first wife: Mary Ida (Schroeder) Naish.

She died November 14, 1992. He was also predeceased by his second wife: Jenette (Criswell) Cummings Naish who died June 19, 2014. He worked at Harrison Radiator in Lockport in the Press Room and fireman for 38 years retiring in 1991.

He was a full time Fire Captain on the Fire Brigade for over 9 years and was in charge of some of the training sections at Harrisons. Eugene is a member of the Covenant United Church of Christ in Gasport where he served on the Boards of Investment Trustees and the Yoke Parish Council as President. Eugene was very involved in fire prevention service.

He was a life-time member of Gasport Chemical Hose Co. joining them in 1954 and held the offices of Foreman, Asst. Chief, Deputy Chief, Chef, Assistant Treasurer and President. He was active in EMS and was a 1st responder and EMT for several years; a charter member and Past President of the Niagara Co. Vol.

Fire and Police Association where he served in many capacities; NY State Fire Police Association; Area Director for the Fire Police Association, NY State Fire Chiefs Association; member of the NYS Association of Fire Investigators Chapter 23; he was appointed Deputy Fire Coordinator the Area 4 from 1992 until 2001 and Life Member of the Western NY State Vol. Firemen’s Association. He was also a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles 825 of Lockport, the Masonic Lodge 787 of Gasport, Gasport American Legion Post 1253, Past President of the Lockport Amateur Radio Association, and Gasport Senior Citizens Jet Set serving on their advisory board.

He served his country in the US Navy from 1951-1954 and was in the Naval Reserve for 10 years. Surviving Eugene are his daughters: Lugene Dodge, Vicky (Lawrence) Demmin, Gwen Hunt and Jacquelyn Lawrence. Ten grandchildren, several great grandchildren, 1 great-great grandson and nieces and nephews also survive Eugene.

Brother of the late: Eathyl Pegelow and Joe Naish. Family and friends are invited to attend visitation at the Sherrie-Bream Funeral Home, 4521 Main Street, Gasport, on Thursday, December 27, 2018 from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. Funeral Services will be held on Friday, December 28, 2018 at 11:00 am from the Covenant United Church of Christ, 4449 Main Street, Gasport, with the Reverend John Tipton officiating.

Interment will be in Hartland Central Cemetery, Gasport, NY. In lieu of flowers, memorials appreciated to: Covenant United Church of Christ, Gasport Chemical Hose or Absolut Care of Gasport. Please go to www.
