Mr. Eugene Glander of Random Lake passed away at St. Nicholas Hospital in Sheboygan on Saturday, December 15, 2018, following a 14 year battle with cancer. He was 84 years old. Gene was born in Sheboygan on March 31, 1934, son of Erwin and Clara Hansen Glander.
He attended local schools, graduating from Sheboygan Central High School in 1953. On August 13, 1955 he was united in marriage with Kathleen Ehren at St. Nicholas Catholic Church in Dacada. The couple settled in Random Lake… Read More » and raised their family.
Mr. Glander worked as a lead man assembler at Gilson Brothers in Fredonia, and later Construction Forms in Grafton, retiring in 1999. He was a member of Our Lady of the Lakes Parish, and had served as an usher, a sacristan, on the Parish Council and the Parish Building & Grounds Committee. Gene also did maintenance at the church whenever it was needed.
He enjoyed woodworking and clock making, fishing, travel and birdwatching, and always loved feeding the birds in his yard. He is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Kathy, and their sons Michael of Plymouth, Mark (Joan) of Cedar Grove and David (Elizabeth) of Sheboygan, eight grandchildren: Alysa Glander of Plymouth, Rachel Glander of Largo, FL Morgan Glander of Plymouth, Alexander (Jennifer) Schultz of Webster City, IA, Sarah Moore of Howards Grove, Paul (Cassy) Glander of Oshkosh, Monica (Frank) Bernhagen of Antigo and Leah Glander of Sheboygan and six great-grandchildren: Noah, Kendra, Nevaeh, Marshall, Isaiah and Andrew. He is further survived by sisters-in-law Maryann (Edward) Kletzein of Plymouth, Marilyn Ehren of Mequon, Marion Mudrock of West Bend and Jean Glander of Sheboygan Falls, nieces, nephews, other family and friends.
Gene is preceded in death by his parents, son Donald, brother Victor, sister Carol (the late Louie) Pearson, and brothers-in-law Roland and Ewald Ehren. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 2:30 PM on Wednesday, December 19th at Our Lady of the Lakes- St. Mary Chapel, 230 Butler St., Random Lake. Father Richard Cerpich will preside.
He will be laid to rest in the parish cemetery following the service. The family will receive visitors at the CHURCH on Wednesday from 12:30-2:30 PM. Memorials, if desired, are suggested to the Our Lady of the Lakes Painting & Decorating Fund.
